Cousin Wedding - 2 Oct 2010

Attended my cousin, Li Yun's wedding dinner with mum last night.

We were born about the same time.. and mum often brings me over to her place. In my memory, I can still remember the days when we were still in our cloth diapers, playing with each other, snatching each other toys.. the loser cries(of course!) Haha!!

And in the blink of an eye, twenty years down the road, last night i see her getting married!

The stage..

The table settings..

The lovely couple.. <3

The traditional 'Yum Seng' from all of us..

It was also a type of family gathering for the older generation (mum and uncles).
Therefore i was not spared the toasting with the relatives (luckily i got some trainings), so did not get drunk. Wee Wee.. LoL

However, how good i hide, or cover my face with the table cloth, i was still being bombarded with the "when is your turn?" by many of them..

-___-||

But anyway, i am very happy to see her finding her man, and getting married!
It was a great gathering! =)

My first time..

Everyone have a first time...

Why this picture?

This is the picture i took, in my sunglasses (and with my contact lens!) Haha...
My first time wearing contact lens, after so many years, when all my friends around have actually been doing it for so long...

What kept me so long from wearing contact lens?

FEAR.

Fear of the contact lens, missing..
Fear of the contact lens, dropping out when im outside...
Fear of seeing my finger near my own eyes!

My friends help me to overcome it.
The whole lot of them, with a mirror, and my trial contact lens, guided and watched me put on the contact lens for the first time. LoL

It's actually not that scary!!!

When you are more 'skillful' with it, its quite fast, actually.

For those first timers, i got links for you to read, and this helps me too.

Cheers~! =)

The Mid-Autumn Festival, 中秋节

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! =)

Source
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or Zhongqiu Festival (traditional Chinese: 中秋節; simplified Chinese: 中秋节; falls on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar.

With source from Wiki, it is also a night when the moon is supposedly at its fullest and roundest. So did you managed to see the moon tonight? =)

Wiki also listed some additional cultural or regional customs things we should do during this day....
  • Carrying brightly lit lanterns, lighting lanterns on towers, floating sky lanterns
  • Burning incense in reverence to deities including Chang'e (Chinese: 嫦娥; pinyin: Cháng'é)
  • Planting Mid-Autumn trees
  • Collecting dandelion leaves and distributing them evenly among family members
  • Fire Dragon Dances
  • Putting pomelo rinds on one's head
  • In Taiwan, since the 1980s, barbecuing meat outdoors has become a widespread way to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Hmmm.. looking at this list, those that i done before are: carrying of lanterns, eating of mooncakes, and hoping to see 嫦娥.. Hehe!! =P

Last year, i was with my friend, Tian Fa and his friends, carrying lanterns at Ang Mo Kio park, and eating mooncakes. Few years back, we still meet up to play candles, chit chat...
I guess everyone's busy this time around.. and my dinner appointment was being cancelled last minute too.. so its a stay home mooncake festival for me. =)

So how's your mooncake festival? did you see the moon??
What ever it is, this song is for all of my dear friends! =)

Heard the new SMRT jingle?

Hello all, have you heard the new SMRT "train is coming" jingle lately?
In case you dont know what i talking about, you can watch the below video..

I took the MRT last night, and it was my first time hearing it.
"Very cute!" i find it...
However, this thought slowly faded away.. why? You must be asking me..

I first heard it at the Bukit Batok station which is nearest to my house, (also the time where i find it cute.) and then i travel to Jurong East station, i heard it the second time.
As i need to travel to Orchard area, i had to change to another line at Raffles City station, i heard it the third time.

Hearing it 3 times in a trip, does not make the song that cute anymore.. =(

Then i start to think....

If there is a chinese version, will it be like...
火车来了〜
火车来了〜
火车来了〜
请开始排队...
爱你的旅程。

And if there's a hokkien version...
her cia lai liao ~~~
her cia lai liao ~~~
her cia lai liao ~~~
kin bai dui..

HAHA!!
Maybe its me, but as i keep hearing the same jingle, it kinda irritate me...
How about you? =)
