Merry Christmas - Part II (The presents!)

Hello all, Happy Boxing Day!

In Singapore, Boxing day is not an official Public Holiday. However i still wish people Happy Boxing day! =P

Information from HERE:
It explains that.. In Britain, Boxing Day is usually celebrated on the following day after Christmas Day, which is 26 December. However, strictly speaking, Boxing Day is the first weekday after Christmas (see definition in the Oxford English Dictionary)

So why is it called Boxing Day?
Traditionally, 26 December was the day to open the Christmas Box to share the contents with the poor.

Anyway, now i want to share with you the Christmas presents i received from my friends and colleagues!

This is before some unwrapping of them..

After unwrapping!
There were chocolates, Christmas cards, sweets, a watch, a keychain.. HAHA~!

And before i forget, a packet of Famous Amos biscuits... yum!

So what did you get for Christmas? =)

Winter solstice (冬至 dong zhi)

Today is Winter solstice (冬至 dong zhi).

From Wiki, The Winter Solstice Festival or The Extreme of Winter (Chinese and Japanese: 冬至; Korean: 동지; Vietnamese: Đông chí) (Pinyin: Dōng zhì), (Rōmaji: Tōji), (Romaja:Dongji) is one of the most important festivals celebrated by the Chinese and other East Asians during the dongzhi solar term on or around December 21 when sunshine is weakest and daylight shortest; i.e., on the first day of the dongzhi solar term.

We celebrate by eating and making of Tangyuan (湯圓, as pronounced in Cantonese; Mandarin Pinyin: Tāng Yuán) or balls of glutinous rice, which symbolize reunion.

So i had mine too! =)

Mum and Grandma said, after eating this, we go one year older..
Oh no!!!! *Screams*

So have you eaten Tang Yuan? =)

The most irritating word in Reuters poll

Everyday, we use so much words, talk so much..which is the most annoying and irritating word to you?

According to Reuters poll (Article from Yahoo) it is the word : "Whatever"

Quoted from the article:

For the second consecutive year "whatever' topped a Marist poll as the most annoying word or phrase in the English language.
Nearly 39 percent of 1,020 Americans questioned in the survey deemed it the most irritating word, followed by "like" with 28 percent and the phrase "you know what I mean' at 15 percent.

Personally, i also find this word irritating!

Why?

Let me quote examples.

Example 1
Boyfriend: Hey honey, what would you like to have for dinner?
Girlfriend: Whatever.
Boyfriend: Oh, ok.. how about chinese food?
Girlfriend: Whatever..

Example 2
Girl 1: Hey, shall we go for a movie?
Girl 2: Whatever.
Girl 1: Cartoon, Action, Comedy?
Girl 2: Whatever..

See how annoying if you give such answers?
It does not actually answer the questions, and also gave a very general answer. =)

Both "Whatever" and "Anything" are the words on my poll of most irritating words.

Funny thing, its got a drink named after them in Singapore. LoL

So what is the most irritating word to you ?
