Beware of Suspicious Calls Claiming to Be from XXX

On a late Saturday night around 10 PM, I received a call from someone claiming to be from xxx. She mentioned that I would be receiving free gifts for a campaign I had supposedly participated in. The only problem? I had no idea such a campaign even existed.

As we spoke, the caller asked for my postal code. That set off alarm bells in my head—why would xxx need me to provide this if they already had my information in their system? (Which they should, right?) I rejected the request outright, telling her that if she was truly from xxx, she should already have my details. She didn't argue and ended the call.

A week passed, and as expected, no "free gifts" were delivered.

"Most probably a scam," I told myself.

Then, out of the blue, on a weekday evening around 9 PM, the same number called again. This time, the caller said the delivery had been delayed and would now happen next Tuesday.

"Hey, maybe it's real after all?" I briefly wondered.

She then attempted to schedule a time for the delivery, casually slipping in that there would also be a "15-minute sharing session about CPF matters." (Ah-ha! This must be an insurance agent who somehow got hold of my number.)

Curious to see where this would go, I decided to play along and agreed to the timing.

The next day, I reached out to my servicing agent and xxx to check if there was any such campaign. Both confirmed that there wasn’t and warned me to be extra cautious as it was likely a scam.

Sure enough, on Tuesday at around 3 PM, I got a call from an unfamiliar mobile number. I was hoping it was a job recruiter, but nope—it was of another lady.

After confirming she was speaking to me, she went straight to the point:

"So Mr. Soh, we meet up later at 5 PM, ok?"

Nicely, I told her that I already had an agent servicing me.

She then tried to act sweet, saying, "You really don’t want to meet me, ah?"

In my mind: (SLAP you. I'm not interested!) 😝

So now, not only do they try to lure you in with "free gifts" at roadshows inside shopping malls, but they also have people calling you, pretending to arrange a delivery, just to meet up and push their sales pitch.

Business must be really slow, huh?

Clouds Like Candy: A Daydream in the Sky

That evening, the clouds were rather interesting. 

Did not notice them, until i saw a lady running past me, took out her mobile phone and pointed at the sky. 

I followed her actions. 

The clouds looked like a big mountain of candy floss. (I'm obviously hungry.) 😁

It was a beautiful scene.

Job Hunting: The Quest for Paychecks and Sanity

Been back to job hunting again recently.

At my age, the hunting seems to be tougher.

We got to "fight" against the youngsters, people from other countries.......🗡🛡

It's even worse with news like:

• Major Asia bank to cut 4,000 roles as AI replaces humans
• Job jitters: Why do some worry about jobs when the S’pore labour market is strong?

Numerous resumes sent. Calls were very few.

Strange situations encountered too.

There was a call for a job, asking me to start following week, but the person went missing after which.
Tried to contact the person, but he just don't reply. Let me have the thinking i was talking to a ghost on phone that day. 👻

Another encounter, i was being asked for a face to face interview. Went for it, talked to the boss (in his office). Right in front of me, he placed my application form at his side cabinet. (???)
Was there a certain meaning to this action ? I thought to myself.
Anyway, this job position "ghosted" me too.

I contacted the company to ask for status, but was not being replied.

Time wasted ?

Not really, i came to realize, jobs nowadays are not the same as 30 years ago. The job scopes are more demanding.

You are expected to learn fast, work fast, adapt fast.

That's why more stressed up people too?

Employers are getting more difficult to please too. Agree ?

Keep trying.

"Back to School" that Saturday..

Through Facebook account, i get to know my ex secondary school had this 'open hour' that Saturday.
Its been like almost 20 years since i last go back to school. 



That familiar side door..
Now they got a shelter linked to the bus stop. (There was not such things during my days.)



That study corner looks same same but different. We used to study, and chit chat at this area.

There was not much changes. But the tables and chairs looked much smaller to me. (I grown up. HAHA.)
That empty grass we used to play at, turned into a beautiful garden.  


Hi my younger days, i missed you.

Finally, i done something...

I always put the sentence "I am on diet", but i still carry on eating. LOL

In May 2017,  i banged on the table, with a few jeans feeling tight, decided, i want to REALLY want to lose some weights.

Me then decided to do a TLS™ 21-Day Challenge Kit.

For 21 days, or 3 weeks, i followed the guide of what to do, and eat clean. Of course, exercise was a must too.

Saying "NO" to my favourite coffee, harshbrowns, potatoes, beer, friend chicken wings......... and the list can go on and on.

Guess what ? I did make it and lost 5 kg !! YEAH !

What i been doing ?

1 Mar 2017 - Shits happens

February 2017 past us in the blink of the eyes.
There goes the birthday month. =)

On 1 March 2017, shits happened again.

I was going to enjoy that cup of kopi-o, and then this warm warm 'end product' from some bird landed on my arm.
Dont know where it come from.

CNY is here again !

Hello all !
How's everyone doing ?
Are you still with me, at my full of dust blog ?

Anyway, all's fine, and i guess everyone busy with the Chinese New Year (CNY) period.
Clothes buying, spring cleaning the house, clearing the old debts...

I won't be having a long holiday, and would be working till 1pm on Friday (Eve of CNY).
Starting work on 4th day of the CNY. (Boo.)
Therefore i got to grab rest as much as possible.

Recently i also got my 5 years, long service award at my work place.
5 years, time flies.
Learned alot over the years, good ones, bad ones.
Not much feel about it, even until now.
Not too sure if i can still survive at the work place for the next 5 years, to get the 10 years award ? HAHA!

Happy Chinese New Year to all of you !

In Dec Year 2016, after nearly 7 year, Running Man set to say bye bye in end Feb 2017.

I was a fan, although not a super hardcore one.

I still watch them and laugh along after a long day.

7 signifies the 7 members in RM, and 012 when pronounced in Korean, it somehow sounds like "forever". So 7012 actually means "7 RM members Forever"

Even if its a Zebra Crossing.

Yesterday, me already cross the zebra crossing, and halfway, a car (I only remember car plate as : 8126 A), was driving towards my direction.

"He should stop for me." my thoughts in my mind.

A big NO !

The car did not stop !!
Luckily, i managed to stop in time, and had to stand in middle of the zebra crossing, and let it pass me.

This is that zebra crossing, that i almost met into an accident.

I stood there, but car not bother to stop.

Tulip, i see you !

Sorry, this is a super outdated post.

I went to this Tulip festival during May, and took tons of photos.

Smart to have this air conditioned area, as the whole place was all open air, and hot around. HAHA!

Arrive real early, to avoid the crowd, but was rather unsuccessful.
It was still crowded. 



Well, alright, this picture may not say much.

However there were challenges when we try to take photos.
People squeezing, people taking their own sweet time to pose, and of course tons of photo bombs.

Due to work, i went on weekends, could it be lesser people on a week day ?

It was my first time there, and saw a lot of interesting flowers, and plants.

First and the Last.

You know the Underwater World at Sentosa ?

After 25 years, it will be closing down on 26 June 2016 !!

And HERE..

It seems it was located at this far end on Sentosa.
You need to take the Sentosa express from Vivocity, to Beach station.
Then from there, Bus 1 service.
Sentosa did a good job at this, as it seems they hired some extra buses, know the big crowds.

I took the effort, and went ahead, to queue up for about an hour.
Visited it first time, and also the last time.



Yes it was crowded.
Human beings was more than the sea creatures on that Sunday.



That tunnel whereby we can just stand there, and watch the fishes swim on top and around us, was so memorable.

Thank you for the good memories.

People, you still got some time to give it a last visit before it is gone, and into the history book.

DHL phone scam

This is considered a heads up post.

I was surprised that this phone scam that the news was reporting, was being spread so widely.

I received one call on my office line.

Got one call yesterday, after lunch time, on my mobile phone.

And, this morning, this went to my home line !
Waking me up from the sleep, with the nice cool weather this morning.

Is DHL or, the relevant authority doing something already ?

I wondered if i will received such call, again. Hmm.....
