The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or Zhongqiu Festival (traditional Chinese: 中秋節; simplified Chinese: 中秋节; falls on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar.
With source from Wiki, it is also a night when the moon is supposedly at its fullest and roundest. So did you managed to see the moon tonight? =)
Wiki also listed some additional cultural or regional customs things we should do during this day....
Burning incense in reverence to deities including Chang'e (Chinese: 嫦娥; pinyin: Cháng'é)
Planting Mid-Autumn trees
Collecting dandelion leaves and distributing them evenly among family members
Fire Dragon Dances
Putting pomelo rinds on one's head
In Taiwan, since the 1980s, barbecuing meat outdoors has become a widespread way to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Hmmm.. looking at this list, those that i done before are: carrying of lanterns, eating of mooncakes, and hoping to see 嫦娥.. Hehe!! =P
Last year, i was with my friend, Tian Fa and his friends, carrying lanterns at Ang Mo Kio park, and eating mooncakes. Few years back, we still meet up to play candles, chit chat...
I guess everyone's busy this time around.. and my dinner appointment was being cancelled last minute too.. so its a stay home mooncake festival for me. =)
So how's your mooncake festival? did you see the moon??
What ever it is, this song is for all of my dear friends! =)
Hello all, have you heard the new SMRT "train is coming" jingle lately?
In case you dont know what i talking about, you can watch the below video..
I took the MRT last night, and it was my first time hearing it.
"Very cute!" i find it...
However, this thought slowly faded away.. why? You must be asking me..
I first heard it at the Bukit Batok station which is nearest to my house, (also the time where i find it cute.) and then i travel to Jurong East station, i heard it the second time.
As i need to travel to Orchard area, i had to change to another line at Raffles City station, i heard it the third time.
Hearing it 3 times in a trip, does not make the song that cute anymore.. =(
Then i start to think....
If there is a chinese version, will it be like...
火车来了〜
火车来了〜
火车来了〜
请开始排队...
爱你的旅程。
And if there's a hokkien version...
her cia lai liao ~~~
her cia lai liao ~~~
her cia lai liao ~~~
kin bai dui..
HAHA!!
Maybe its me, but as i keep hearing the same jingle, it kinda irritate me...
How about you? =)
She was just weeks shy of qualifying as vet when car accident happened.
Ms Celina Chua was a mere five weeks from completing her second degree in veterinary medicine at Murdoch University when she was killed in the car crash. Her mother and two sisters were also injured in the accident. -- PHOTO: FACEBOOK
A SINGAPOREAN lawyer who gave up her career to pursue a veterinary degree in Australia was killed in a car crash in Perth last Friday, just short of her graduation.
Ms Celina Chua, 30, would have been able to fulfil her lifelong dream of becoming a vet in just five weeks, after completing her second degree in veterinary medicine at Murdoch University.
But her life was cut short when the car she was driving careened off a three-lane highway and crashed headlong into an oncoming vehicle.
Western Australian police said she was behind the wheel when she lost control of her Hyundai Excel. She was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. Her mother and a younger sister were also injured in the accident and were admitted to the Royal Perth Hospital. Another younger sister, who was also in the car, sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the other car suffered punctured lungs, multiple fractures and cuts, and was also taken to hospital. Police are still investigating the accident.
Media reports on the accident said Ms Chua's family members were in Perth for a short visit when it happened.

I'm very sad to read this article, as it brought back memories of my good friend, and his girlfriend, who also left this world in a car accident, in year 2008. (Link to 2008 article)
He was only 25.
I can still recall me calling his mobile, 2 weeks before this happened, to ask him out for coffee session. "I will call you back?" His answer to me.
The call never came.
It took me some time to overcome this period of losing him.
Two years passed, so fast..

Look at how fragile life is?
For the many friends who are facing problems, crisis, and challenges, this is for you!
I met Miss Fujitsu, during my diploma course period. She was being dumped by the previous ''boyfriend'' (and was being sold to me at an low price, after like 2 years usage, due to the owner buying a latest model.)
With the most basic usage of doing projects, and able to surf the internet, it was good enough for me.
However, recently Miss Fujitsu, had been naughty and not been working well with me lately.. with mood swings (regular hanging of screen), anyway its an at least 6 years ago model (I only got 60GB disk drive. =x)
Therefore, with the Comex show at Suntec City, (and to make myself happier..) i dumped her, teaches my mum how to operate and play some simple games with it. Yeah~
This is the 2nd month-end closing of the accounts.
As usual, its a war in the office.. Lucky thing, i got my sword on the right hand and my shield on the left, all ready for battle !
A few nights, we had to work till after 9pm, or even 10pm, each day was fully packed with never-ending things, from 8:30am till 9pm. While we are doing task A, task B, C, D, E, F, comes rushing us. And in between all these tasks, we are needed to learn new things.
The whole team is Physically and Mentally stressed out.
As such pressure build up, people tend to be more short-tempered, (i admit i am one of them too) and quarrels start from such situations too.
Many times, i really feel like giving up, and tender my registration (Yup) but i overcame it. However i am not sure how long this can last, as i always drag myself to work nowadays..
So as a reminder to myself and all my friends, do keep cool. Work is never ending, work to your very best and dont give yourself too much pressure!
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place... and I don´t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently, if you let it.
You, me or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life. But ain't about how hard you hit... It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward... how much you can take, and keep moving forward. That´s how winning is done.
Now, if you know what you worth, go out and get what you worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits. And not pointing fingers saying: You ain´t what you wanna be because of him or her or anybody.
Cowards do that and that ain´t you! You´re better than that!" (Rocky Balboa)
Try playing this in your head, always.

Today, is the first day of the seventh Lunar month, or the so called Ghost month.
During this month, you will be seeing people praying and placing offerings along the pavements.
Laugh at me for being superstitious, there are some advices(or things you might already know.) in which i would like to share.
Like how my mum and grandma always say, "Hong Wei, ah.. dont step onto the joss sticks, offerings or incense paper hor.. it's for the good brothers one.."
When i got older, i realized that the 'good brothers' mum and grandma referred to was actually the spirits/ghost, who will be given a month ''holiday'' on human world during this month. Therefore, the offerings are for them.
*So do not step onto the offerings, when you see them.*
During this month, we are advised not to stay out too late during the night.. if you really staying out late, for ladies, try to get a friend or buddy to walk home with you.
It is also a month of 'concert-like' live performances, called 'Koh-tai' by the Hokkien-speaking people. It is usually performed by a group of singers, dancers and entertainers on a temporary stage that setup within the residential district of certain areas in Singapore.
*Do note, the very first row of seats are meant for the 'good brothers'*
Some video clips of 'Koh-tai'..
So for this month, be safe, don't stay out too late. =)
