Doctor say i got "brain tumor"...!

The headache, that bothered me 2 weeks ago came back!
Took another day MC on Friday. =(

Since i just visit the doctor 2 weeks ago, she said that i might have "brain tumor", therefore the frequent headache.. Is she trying to scare me or what? -___-"

Anyway shall share some personal (natural) methods of mine for headaches :-
I drink lots of water.. (tons of it actually) As most of us works in the air con office, we get dehydrated easily too.

I also try hard not to eat panadols (or pain killers), as i know when you need 2 tablets of them today, you might need 4 tablets in the next day, and soon, they will lose its effects.
However i took 2 of them on Thursday night..

The other method would be having enough sleep(and i mean tons of it!).
Therefore, straight after work, i try hard to get home by 7:30pm, and sleep before 10pm.
However this din work too..

After some surfing of the net, i realized there are also other natural methods!
Quoted from HERE:
  • Cayenne pepper can help clear your sinuses. If you suffer from sinus headaches, this type of home remedy can be a natural headache cure.
  • Drink decaf. If you're a coffee, tea or soda drinker then you might be bringing on your headaches because of caffeine. If you fail to get that caffeine, you might get a withdrawal headache. You can either get a caffeinated drink when that happens or start curbing the caffeine out of your diet altogether.
  • Drink water. Oftentimes, people get a headache because they are dehydrated. Getting some water in to your system can get rid of that headache. Drinking room temperature water is your best bet since water that is too cold can give temporarily give you even more of a headache.
  • Eat right. If you get headaches on a regular basis, it could be due to a food allergy or a vitamin that is missing from your diet. Eat healthy and pay attention to what you eat and how you feel afterwards so that you can prevent the headache from happening in the first place. Also, if you get a headache, ask yourself if it's because you haven't eaten. Sometimes skipping meals can cause headaches so all you need to do is get some food in your system.
  • Fresh air. Breathing deeply can do wonders for a headache in general; it'll be even more effective as a natural headache cure if you do it out in the fresh air.
  • Lemons. Lemon juice added to water or tea can be a natural cure for a headache. You can also take the peel of a lemon and grind it up to make a paste. Applied to the face and forehead, this may be a headache cure as well because of the aromatherapy properties it has.
  • Mint. Mint is soothing, especially in teas. And it can be a great natural way to get rid of your headache. Peppermint water will work as well.
  • Take a nap. You might have a headache because you need some rest. This is especially true if your lack of sleep is causing you to strain your eyes during the day, resulting in a headache. If you can get away and take a nap when the headache comes on, you might wake up to find that it's gone.

Another way that i found out, would be listening to music or sounds with Binaural beats!
They are auditory processing artifacts, or apparent sounds, the perception of which arises in the brain for specific physical stimuli.
This effect was discovered in 1839 by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove, and earned greater public awareness in the late 20th century based on claims that binaural beats could help induce relaxation, meditation, creativity and other desirable mental states.

The brain produces a phenomenon resulting in low-frequency pulsations in the amplitude and sound localization of a perceived sound when two tones at slightly different frequencies are presented separately, one to each of a subject's ears, using stereo headphones. A beating tone will be perceived, as if the two tones mixed naturally, out of the brain. The frequencies of the tones must be below 1,000 hertz for the beating to be noticeable. The difference between the two frequencies must be small (less than or equal to 30 Hz) for the effect to occur; otherwise, the two tones will be heard separately and no beat will be perceived.

Some videos i found :

There are of course more of such music or sounds if you go find them. =)

Come to think of it, was i stressing myself too much recently?
Or its my work being too stressful??

Take care, all my dear friends!

Dumpling Festival (端午節)

Hi all, today is Dumpling Festival or 端午節.
This festival occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar.

(Quoted from Wiki)
The best-known traditional story holds that the festival commemorates the death of poet Qu Yuan (Chinese: 屈原) (c. 340 BCE – 278 BCE) of the ancient state of Chu, in the Warring States Period of the Zhou Dynasty.

A descendant of the Chu royal house, Qu served in high offices. However, when the king decided to ally with the increasingly powerful state of Qin, Qu was banished for opposing the alliance.
Qu Yuan was accused of treason. During his exile, Qu Yuan wrote a great deal of poetry, for which he is now remembered.

Twenty-eight years later, Qin conquered the capital of Chu. In despair, Qu Yuan committed suicide by drowning himself in the Miluo River on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month.

It is said that the local people, who admired him, threw lumps of rice into the river to feed the fish so that they would not eat Qu Yuan's body. This is said to be the origin of zongzi. The local people were also said to have paddled out on boats, either to scare the fish away or to retrieve his body. This is said to be the origin of dragon boat racing.

* * * * * * * *

And that is how the zong zi, or dumplings came about. =)

My friend, Tian Fa's nice mum actually made some for me, and he drove specially to my house just to deliver them!

Thank you so much, brother!!

Have you taken your dumplings? =)

Happenings from 23 to 27 May 2011

Hello all! How are you all doing?
I was sick, and took a day MC yesterday. =(

Anyway, over the past week, my colleague brought me to a nice place for dinner last Tues. =)

The name of the place: Vintage Delicafe.
It is located at 66 Bussorah Street 199479 (nearest MRT station: Bugis) and halal too! =)
You can visit their website HERE.

It is a cosy place, and serves nice pasta!
Do book table as its full house on days like Friday nights.

I took the Aglio Olio with sliced Dory Fish.
(Pasta* sautéed with garlic, capsicum in olive oil served with sliced dory fish)

Yums!

* * * * * * * *
We always come across weird/unusual happenings, this is what i encountered last week.

Firstly, last Sat while on the way for my Passion Run, i saw this on the MRT..

The uncle (folding arms in this picture.) ''drive'' the mini motor right into the MRT cabin! At first i thought he was having some medical problems, but was shocked when he stood up to sit on the seats!!

He later took out his plastic box(i guess its his lunch) and started cleaning it with tissue papers and throwing small pieces of left over food on the seats..
-___-"

Another unusual thing i saw during the dinner on Tuesday.

The funny traffic light!
One was facing the pedestrian, the other facing the opposite way!!
(My colleagues were laughing at me, while i took this. HAHA.)

* * * * * * * *

And, i got myself this!! =D

100 Plus Passion Run 2011 - 21 May 2011

My first 12km run.

With not much training before hand, my leg muscles cramped towards the last 3km.. however i pulled through it..

Overall all, was a good experience..
Running along the running track of East Coast Park, with the sea breeze blowing at you, and of course, plenty of water points (100 Plus!!)

Surprises me when i bumped into 2 of my friends, while running. HAHA!
Coincidence! =)

After about 1 hour and 50mins of jogging, and walking, this was what i was aiming for!

My finisher medal!
The lanyard was so nice, right? =)

And i think i should invest on this NWZ-W252 Walkman® Player as my companion while jogging...

Mum's nanny, passing away..

Today during lunch, we got a phone call.
Mum's nanny passed away in hospital this afternoon.

My bowl of porridge suddenly turned bitter, upon hearing this news.

She was such a nice lady, who took care of my mum during her younger times.
Mum brought me along when i was a kid to visit her house.
And every time we are there, she would make milo, take out the biscuits and starting serving us.

However, due to a fall, few years back, she was being bed ridden and only survived on a tube, transferring milk through her mouth.

Few months back, Mum and i visited her again in the nursing home she was staying in.
As she was not able to talk, all she could do was stare at us. I am sure she still can recognize us, but she just could not talk.

Although we expected such things, but i did not want it to happen so soon.

Death is a debt we all must pay. ~Euripides

Only problem is : when?

Dear Nanny, Thank you for the great memories.
Please take care of yourself in the other world.

Dear Mum, Stay strong. *HUGS*

The Best of Both Worlds.

What is the meaning of Best of Both Worlds?

As according to an online website called "thefreedictionary.com", it means: a situation wherein one can enjoy two different opportunities. (*Typically: enjoy ~; have ~; live in ~.)

For me, i always wanted to be able to stay home, do my own things, and still get paid. HAHA!
Guess this will never happen, we all got to work hard to earn the $ before we can enjoy.

What do you hope to be able to do so that you can enjoy the Best of Both Worlds?

But no fears, i have some good things to share with you all, whereby you can get the Best of Both or even the whole World! =P

Actually i did no get to know this, until my Mm told me about it on Tuesday night. (LOL)
I think i am really outdated on news recently.. Need to do some catching up on news soon!

Quoted from HERE:
SINGAPORE'S very own pop princess, Stefanie Sun, has officially tied the knot.
Yesterday, the 32-year-old wed her boyfriend, Mr Nadim van der Ros, in a traditional wedding ceremony. Later in the evening, the two arrived at luxury hotel Capella Singapore on Sentosa to host a wedding dinner that began at 7pm.

Sun and Mr van der Ros, an engagement director at marketing agency Possible Worldwide, have been dating for five years.

My virgin voting experience..

7 May 2011.
I did my virgin vote in my almost 30 years in Singapore!

  • Went to the polling station, full of excitement.
  • Crowd was not that much, and everyone looked stern.
  • Few policemen were around there too.. and the ground were nicely labelled, guiding us all along in the polling station.
  • The area was nicely organized and voting was done, within 5 mins! (Must clap hands to this part.)

Mark a big "cross" against the party you want to vote for.

DONE!
=)

I shall keep this slip in my "mooncake" steel box, till 5 years later. LOL!

And then last night i was too excited to sleep, and stayed up till 1:30am to watch the results. (Even though i was working the next day, Sunday..)

Results in picture format.

PAP still win most of the seats.
And my personal favourite Nicole Seah, din win. SAD!
Not much changes, just hope that our life will get along normally, praying hard things won't get more expensive!

Anyway, just for laughs: someone made this video of Mr Yam Ah Mee, the Returning Officer for the Parliamentary and Presidential Elections.
Video was of him sayng those words over and over again as he read the results of our elections.

And i realized, I am like working 6.5 days out of 7 days this week.(luckily for the Labour Day holiday on Monday) And my weekends, burnt. =(

Another new week ahead, i need to rest well.

How was your weekends, my dear friends? =)

One day before voting day, the Cooling Off Day..

Tomorrow is the day we cast our votes.
So today was a "cooling day'.

Quoted from HERE : Cooling-off Day is a day when campaigning is disallowed and election
advertising must not be published or displayed. This is to let voters reflect rationally
on various issues raised at an election before going to the polls.

So, no more rally to go to.

Anyway, I think it's not so ''cool'' for me, as my nose suddenly bleed, while i was surfing on my laptop in my room.

After discovering it, i quickly ran out of room, used a piece of toilet paper, to stop the bleeding. (Just like when you meet a tap leaking, quickly find cloth to try to stop it.)

I must be lacking of rest or sleep..

And, im working this weekends.

Sobs...
