Dinner at Heaven's Loft with Season of the Witch

It was a gathering of friends for the Jan and Feb babies of the gang.

We decided to check it out, Heaven's Loft at Orchard Central.

The surrounding was nicely decorated, and a great place for gathering of friends.

My friend booked the seat outdoors, or the bar area, in which we were greeted with the natural wind blowing from outside and the live singing.

I had Fish & Chips, and the Ben & Jerry ice-cream as dessert. =)
The food were nicely decorated, however limited(In terms of quantity).

And then, we ended dinner with a group photo!

(But, the more i look at this, the more i feel i'm like the only one without partner..??! HAHA! )

Some of us, went for "Season of the witch" movie by Nicholas Cage, later that night.

Some disgusting scenes, flying effects, wolves becoming "evil wolves".. blah blah..
Overall, it was for Nicolas Cage.. =P

We catch up, joked around, and had great fun!

A bit of stress relieved for me, but still Life must go on.

Old Vs New

As i grow old, i start to think back of the things when i was younger.

Like this song i used to listen to:

Although the very funny kind of dance, when you see this now.. but, after so many years, it is still a classic and i can still remember the lyrics! Haha!!

And also, how many of you remember the little "555 notebook" we used to write things on?
(By the way, are they still available in stationary stores?)
I was telling this to a friend who was few years younger than me, and she did not know what i was talking about! -___-"

Anyway this is called the 555 notebook.

And i guess the Ipad is now the trend..

It is actually a very pocket-sized kind of notebook, with lines and for you to record or write things you want.
It is so portable in our pocket.

I can still recall, using it to record who owns me things or $ when i was in Primary school. Haha!!

And so times flies, we grow up and we don't see such things anymore.

However, as the world moves faster, and people also tend to demand things to move as fast.. each of us also had to move fast, or to move faster so as to keep up.. but, are we also advancing in the right direction?

Do we still have the 好公民 or Moral education lessons in schools nowadays, whereby kids are being taught how to be a better or treat others better? Nowadays the results we obtained appeared (or are) more important than us being taught to be a better person.

Life back then was much simpler.. Agrees?

Back to civilian life

Hello all, Hong Wei is back!! =)
How i missed my iphone.. haha!!
How's everyone doing?

I was away for a week, and of course, work piled up in office.

And my upperstudy can throw work without any advice into my in-tray, expecting me to ''know everything". -____-"

Anyway, its about 2 weeks to Chinese New Year!

So full of excitement but also is the period whereby we spend $.
With no AWS this year, i tend to think twice, or rather thrice when buying things this time around. (have to save up for a rainy day, agree?)

We are left with 2 weeks for spring cleaning and buying the stuff we needed..
Have you done yours?

However 年年难过,年年过...

Be happy everyday!!! =D

Merry Christmas - Part II (The presents!)

Hello all, Happy Boxing Day!

In Singapore, Boxing day is not an official Public Holiday. However i still wish people Happy Boxing day! =P

Information from HERE:
It explains that.. In Britain, Boxing Day is usually celebrated on the following day after Christmas Day, which is 26 December. However, strictly speaking, Boxing Day is the first weekday after Christmas (see definition in the Oxford English Dictionary)

So why is it called Boxing Day?
Traditionally, 26 December was the day to open the Christmas Box to share the contents with the poor.

Anyway, now i want to share with you the Christmas presents i received from my friends and colleagues!

This is before some unwrapping of them..

After unwrapping!
There were chocolates, Christmas cards, sweets, a watch, a keychain.. HAHA~!

And before i forget, a packet of Famous Amos biscuits... yum!

So what did you get for Christmas? =)

Winter solstice (冬至 dong zhi)

Today is Winter solstice (冬至 dong zhi).

From Wiki, The Winter Solstice Festival or The Extreme of Winter (Chinese and Japanese: 冬至; Korean: 동지; Vietnamese: Đông chí) (Pinyin: Dōng zhì), (Rōmaji: Tōji), (Romaja:Dongji) is one of the most important festivals celebrated by the Chinese and other East Asians during the dongzhi solar term on or around December 21 when sunshine is weakest and daylight shortest; i.e., on the first day of the dongzhi solar term.

We celebrate by eating and making of Tangyuan (湯圓, as pronounced in Cantonese; Mandarin Pinyin: Tāng Yuán) or balls of glutinous rice, which symbolize reunion.

So i had mine too! =)

Mum and Grandma said, after eating this, we go one year older..
Oh no!!!! *Screams*

So have you eaten Tang Yuan? =)

The most irritating word in Reuters poll

Everyday, we use so much words, talk so much..which is the most annoying and irritating word to you?

According to Reuters poll (Article from Yahoo) it is the word : "Whatever"

Quoted from the article:

For the second consecutive year "whatever' topped a Marist poll as the most annoying word or phrase in the English language.
Nearly 39 percent of 1,020 Americans questioned in the survey deemed it the most irritating word, followed by "like" with 28 percent and the phrase "you know what I mean' at 15 percent.

Personally, i also find this word irritating!

Why?

Let me quote examples.

Example 1
Boyfriend: Hey honey, what would you like to have for dinner?
Girlfriend: Whatever.
Boyfriend: Oh, ok.. how about chinese food?
Girlfriend: Whatever..

Example 2
Girl 1: Hey, shall we go for a movie?
Girl 2: Whatever.
Girl 1: Cartoon, Action, Comedy?
Girl 2: Whatever..

See how annoying if you give such answers?
It does not actually answer the questions, and also gave a very general answer. =)

Both "Whatever" and "Anything" are the words on my poll of most irritating words.

Funny thing, its got a drink named after them in Singapore. LoL

So what is the most irritating word to you ?

Campaign against child violence

Today on Yahoo Singapore, i saw this article on a Facebook campaign, whereby people are changing their profile picture, as a global viral campaign to eliminate violence against children.

On their Facebook account, they are asking people to change their facebook profile picture to a cartoon from their childhood..

To join in this campaign, i decided to change my profile picture to my personal childhood cartoon too!

I am going to put it for 2 weeks.

First week, it shall be : Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles !

This four green heros (Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello & Raphael) will always be my childhood heros!

Turtles in a half shell, Turtle power!

Second week shall be Transformers!

This is also what i been going after during my childhood days.. I can still remember having an Optimus Prime toy..! (But not sure where it gone to...)

In the words of Optimus Prime : "Autobots, Transform and Roll Out!!!"

So what was your childhood cartoon?
Do join in the campaign. =)
